 | 6th Jun 2009 to 7th Jun 2009 | Peterborough Spring Regatta 2009
Saturday (1k) saw a number of good performances, especially the Men's IM3 4+ crew who pipped Norwich to win their heat and get to the final, but no wins.
Sunday was a different story with two crews dominating their events to win. First there was the Women's IM3 4+ crew (who'd done so well at the Met last week) - the only crew to go under 2 minutes, which they did in all three rounds. Equally impressive were Pierre-Yves and I in the Vet Novice 2x, winning from the front in both the round and the final, to de-novice as well!

 | 31st May 2009 | Metropolitan Regatta 2009
The Women's first time out at the Met saw two IM3 4+ boats racing. The first crew off dominated their heat, winning easily to proceed to the final. The other crew wasn't so fortunate, their preparation being upset by an unfair warning. This disrupted their start and they weren't able to recover, coming in last in their heat.
In the final, the first crew fought well, lying second at halfway before two crews rowed through them, leaving them to finish fourth. They placed as the second club crew in the event, a really impressive result

 | 10th May 2009 | Cambridge Spring Regatta 2009
Just Steve and I out today as a Vet D double. After a poor start and scrappy first couple of hundred meters we settled and started to come back at our opponents but left it too late over a 450 meter race
|
 | 9th May 2009 | Bedford Amateur Regatta 2009
Three boats out today, all Women's IM3 4+ crews. Two went out in the first round (one to the eventual winners, in a very close race) with the other beating Champions of the Thames in the first round before going out to DAHS in the second.
Just a few photos today, courtesy of Rob Mills

 | 19th Apr 2009 | Abingdon Head 2009
Another good day for the Women's IM3 4+ crew as they won their event at our second visit to Abingdon. Good races from other crews too, including Steve and I showing a huge improvement from last year to finish second in the Vet C/D/E 2x- class (and fastest Vet D boat) and a debut for Simon in the Vet C 4x-.
|
 | 5th Apr 2009 | Bedford Small Boats Head 2009
A good win today for the Women's Intermediate 3 4+ crew (also taking second in this category) against a strong field. No other winners but some very good performances from the seventeen (yes, seventeen!) boats we put out.
A good mix of crews across Men's, Women's and Junior squads and an impressive range of boats; we put out several coxed fours, a pair, several doubles and lots of singles.
This is a selection of shots from the day, as usual compressed. If you'd like the full lot at high resolution, please let me know

 | 1st Mar 2009 | Rowing Challenge March 2009
First rowing challenge, held at Kingston District Centre, MK (courtesy of Tesco Kingston). Our target was 150,000m in 5 hours - we did this with over five minutes to spare!
Thanks to all who took part or just came and supported. A good way of getting the club's name known and we may get a few new members, judging from the interest shown.

 | 31st Jan 2009 | Northampton Head 2009
A great start to the year, with MKRC taking no less than four wins from seven crews at the Northampton Head. The winning crews were the S3 4x- (the usual suspects...), the WS3 4+ (Paula, Becks, Clare and Yemin, coxed by Charlene), the Men's scratch S3 4+ (Paul, Nick, Will and Pierre-Yves, again coxed by Charlene) and, on their first competitive outing, the "handicapped pair" of Paul and Nick.
Good rows from all the crews, showing much promise for the rest of the season? Lots of mixing up and swapping of crews shows good flexibility as well. Another racing debut today as well, from Lou

 | 18th Jan 2009 | Rowathlon - January 2009
First ever rowathlon at MKRC - a 2K ergo, followed by a 12K bike ride then a 3K run to finish. Around 10 of us daft enough to try it - winners were Paul (Men Open), Pierre-Yves (Vet Men), Helen (Women Open) and Paula (Vet Women).
Thanks to Tring Brewery Company for sponsoring the event

 | 2nd Nov 2008 | Ely Head 2008
First ever head race at Ely and MKRC put out four boats. Fastest crew was Salv and John but they were beaten into third in J18 2x. Best result of the day was Steve and Rob, winning the Vet 2x category. Good races from Jo and Curt, especially given their lack of recent race practice.
|
 | 26th Oct 2008 | British Indoor Rowing Championships 2008
A big turnout for MKRC today at the British Indoors (BIRC). Best results were tenth places for Jo Heywood and Lindy Gray (only her second ever 2k). Good performances all round, with no less than seven juniors taking part
|
 | 12th Oct 2008 | Bedford Autumn Small Boats Head
A brilliant day for the club as Kieran and John posted the first ever win for the Juniors! They took the honours in the J16 2x. A number of other good races, with Steve, Pierre and I mixing it up to put out three 2x crews, two Womens 4+ boats and the (pleasingly) inevitable large junior entry.
|
 | 11th Oct 2008 | Pairs Head 2008
My first time on the Tideway. Brilliant conditions (sunny, bright, warm and calm) and we had a good race too. Finished 9th (of 11) in Vet B/C and 215th overall (out of around 380). Well pleased!
|
 | 5th Oct 2008 | St Neots Head 2008
No less than three second places in this year's St. Neots Head, one for each of the doubles. Relatively small turn-out for the event, mainly because of a lack of competition for any of our fours/quads.
Good performances all round, special mention to the Elliot twins who are showing real promise.
|
 | 9th Aug 2008 | Peterborough Summer Regatta 2008
Only two boats out today. Neither won but both put in strong performances, especially the Women's S4 4+ who came second overall, seeing off some very strong competition.
Photos of the Men's S4 8+ only - please let me know if anyone has pictures of the ladies' crew!
